The Association are proud of its achievements so far including;

PLANNING PERMISSION FOR CHANGE OF USE OF THE HIPPODROME
When the Association was first formed the Derby Hippodrome was essentially intact, but being used as a Bingo Hall. In order to demonstrate the potential for the building to be restored as a theatre, we made an application for Planning Permission to change its use back to a theatre. This was granted by the Derby City Council in October 2006.

DERBY CITY COUNCIL SCRUTINY REVIEW
The Derby City Council Scrutiny review carried out in 2004 supported the DNTA ambition of securing a community Theatre in Derby. However, no other support was available from the City Council.

THE EAGLE AWARDS
For many years, the Eagle Awards – a celebration of the amateur theatrical talent in Derby - were held at Derby Playhouse. When the Playhouse operation collapsed in November 2007 the future of the Eagles was in doubt but, thanks to help from the University of Derby and Derby Live, and our discussions with these bodies, the Eagles are thriving again. The 2013 event will be held at Derby Theatre on Saturday 20 July 2013.

BETTER DEALS FOR LOCAL GROUPS HIRING VENUES
The Association has played a key lobbying role in ensuring that the hiring charges for venues such as Derby Theatre and the Guildhall strike a fair balance between the return to the owners and the cost to the very different local societies that use these venues.

SPOTLIGHT
This calendar of amateur productions, published every 4 months and widely distributed by the Association, is now a well established advertising vehicle for the productions staged by the Member Companies. All individual members receive a copy.
